![]() You might have noticed that just like the "ls" command could string directories with the "/", the "cd" command can as well. Now, if I type "pwd" you'll see that I'm inside the "Downloads" directory. ![]() " we will be moved up one directory, into the "Downloads" directory. " we would be changing directories to the one we're already in, which isn't very helpful. The two dots represent the directory that the current directory is inside, in this case the "Downloads" directory. The single dot represents the current directory, in this case the "Examples" directory. You could type the entire path explicitly like "cd /Users/ModulesUnraveled/Downloads" but depending on how deep you are, that could quickly become obnoxious. So, moving down into folders is pretty easy, but it might not be obvious how to move back up one level. Now, I can type "pwd" to verify that we're inside the "Examples" directory, and I can type "ls -al" to view the files and folders inside the "Examples" directory. I'll type "cd Downloads/Examples" to change directories into the "Examples" directory that is inside the "Downloads" directory. The second way to list files in a directory, is to first move into the directory using the "cd" command (which stands for "change directory", then simply use the "ls" command. We'll use "cd" to move down as well as up the directory structure. I find environment.yml files to be a bit of a pain sometimes (they’re not always cross-platform compatible – see this issue), so this is quite useful as it actually gives me the commands that I ran to create the environment. In this video, we'll use the "cd" command to move into another directory before we list its files. (For reference, the command-line magic gets the content of the history file, searches for all lines starting with # cmd, and then splits the line by spaces and extracts everything from the 3rd group onwards) Users/robin/anaconda3/envs/hotbar/bin/conda install -c conda-forge rasterio Users/robin/anaconda3/envs/hotbar/bin/conda install matplotlib numpy scipy ipython jupyter mahotas statsmodels scikit-image pandas gdal tqdm Specifically, it doesn’t just give you the list of what was installed, uninstalled or upgraded – but it also gives you the commands you ran! If you want, you can extract these commands with a bit of command-line magic:Ĭat ~/anaconda3/envs/hotbar/conda-meta/history | grep '# cmd' | cut -d" " -f3- /Users/robin/anaconda3/bin/conda create -name hotbar python=2.7 # cmd: /Users/robin/anaconda3/envs/hotbar/bin/conda install matplotlib numpy scipy ipython jupyter mahotas statsmodels scikit-image pandas gdal tqdm You don’t want to know why I went searching for this file (it’s a long story involving some stupidity on my part), but it’s got some really useful contents: => 22:41:06 22:46:28 <= One more thing is that I’ve found out that all of this data is stored in the history file in the conda-meta directory of your environment ( CONDA_ROOT/conda-meta for your default environment and CONDA_ROOT/envs/ENV_NAME/conda-meta for any other environment). You can see that the changes for revision 3 are just the inverse of revision 2. For example, if your revision list looks like this: 21:12:34 (rev 1)Īnd you revert to revision 1 by running conda install -revision 1, and then run conda list -revisions again, you’ll get this: 21:13:08 (rev 2) I’ve got a few other hints for you though…įirstly, if you ‘revert’ to a previous revision then you will find that an ‘inverse’ revision is created, simply doing the opposite of what the previous revision did. So, I think that’s pretty awesome – and really handy if you screw things up and want to go back to a previously working environment. ![]() This will ask you to confirm the relevant package uninstallation/installation – and get you back to exactly where you were before! If you want to revert to a previous revision you can simply run conda install -revision N (where N is the revision number). In this output you can see a number of specific versions (or revisions) of this environment (in this case the default conda environment), along with the date/time they were created, and the differences (installed packages shown as +, uninstalled shown as - and upgrades shown as ->). If you run conda list -revisions, you’ll get an output like this: 20:20:37 (rev 10) The best way to explain is by a quick example. However, the other day I came across a wonderful feature that I’d never known about before… revisions! I now use Anaconda as my primary Python distribution – and my company have also adopted it for use on all of their developer machines as well as their servers – so I like to think I’m a relatively knowledgeable user. ![]() Great partners teach us new things about ourselves, and “Ammonite” really gets that element of human relationships without overplaying it. Lee’s approach is tactile without feeling exploitative or manipulative. Actually, one could argue parts of “Ammonite” are too low-register, but that’s reflective of its protagonist's personality in a way that keeps this love story from devolving into melodrama when it could at so many points. And the film explodes in passionate love-making scenes that contrast with the drudgery of the rest of the film. They feel like drowning people gasping for air or people in darkness seeing blinding light for the first time. The contrast makes Mary and Charlotte’s passion burn brighter.Īll of this falls apart completely without two high caliber performers to pull it off. Ronan is very good here-she quite literally always is at least ‘very good’ in everything she does-but the movie really belongs to Winslet, who reminds us how incredible she can be with the right material. She avoids every single trap into which this character could have tumbled, refusing to overplay the reclusive aspects early in the film and finding so much to say through body language instead of dialogue throughout. ![]() The way her body responds when Charlotte touches her the first time, and then as their relationship gets more physical, feels transformative. ![]() There’s so much grace and nuance in this performance that it could be studied to consider all of the smart decisions that Winslet makes in each scene. She has been given a remarkably small amount of dialogue and no narration, and yet she conveys an overwhelming amount of inner conflict. And Ronan matches her beat for beat, especially in the second half of the film. Sometimes that sort of thing is much more impactful when it comes from within the team rather than just coming from the coach. And from there they must be able to effectively kick them in the butt when required. It is important for a captain to be able to be critical of their teammates, either individually or collectively. This maybe falls under communications skills, but I want to break it out for specific focus. They are constructive rather than critical. There’s no whining or moaning or pulling of faces when they disapprove of something. For some captains, in some circumstances, that is a desirable course (as with coaches), but what I’m talking about here is mentality. The ability to delegate to others is useful in this context as well. I personally delegate quite a bit of team management to my captains, so having someone who can be organized is important. The same is true with the coach(es) and anyone else associated with the team. The captain must respect the players and be respected by them. Lazy players in leadership roles set very bad examples. The captain must be one of the hardest working players on the team, if not the hardest. I should be able to look at them and see the focus, concentration, and commitment in their eyes, though. This need not be of the loud, constantly talking kind. I need to be able to have a dialog with my captain(s) to be able to ensure that I know what I need to know to manage the team most effectively and that the team understands my thinking and decision-making. Communication skillsĪ good captain communicates well with both their teammates and the coach(es). This isn’t to say they don’t worry about their own game, but they are committed to the broader goals. They put the team’s performance and objectives ahead of their own. It needs to be the other way around – the captain helping the rest of the team deal with the stress and strain.įrom my own perspective, here’s what else I think makes for an ideal team captain, in no particular order: Team focus Nobody wants a captain who cracks when the heat is turned up. ![]() So what does Lynne think good captains have? Calmness under pressure is at or near the top of the list. ![]() It’s just that not all great players are captain material. This isn’t to say that doesn’t often remain the case, as the qualities which produce good captains very often result in good players as well. It talks about how after a certain point it’s just not simply the best player on the team. We were just happy to have progressed that far!Īnyway, the article brings up the qualities which make for a good team captain. Well, misfortune in terms of being sorely outclassed on the court. We have also included practical examples with image code snippets, showing how to set the style of the vertical lines and how to add text labels to them. We have described each of the input arguments in detail so that you can fully master this function. In this article, we showed you how to create and draw a vertical line on a graph using the MATLAB function xline(). In cases where multiple lines of labels need to be created, we must first create a cell array of character vectors with each of these labels in the appropriate order and send this array to the “label” input of the xline() function as in the following example. Next, we will see how the input arguments of the xline() function should be sent to create lines with text labels. We will now see an example of how we create a solid continuous blue line with the label “LinuxHint”. ![]() These labels are sent as character strings at the time of the function call in the “label” input of xline(). In this example, we show you how to add text labels to the vertical lines we create with the xline() function. How to Add Text Labels to the Vertical Lines of a Plot with MATLAB’s xline() Function The following figure shows how the line style and line color attributes can be specified with the LinSpec input of the MATLAB function xline(). To do this, we send the following string in the “LineSpec” input to set these attributes: ![]() Now, we use the “LineSpec” input to create a vertical line of the dash-dot line type in red color on the same graph we created in the previous example, this time at coordinate 0.2 of the x-axis. Next, we will see the color options offered by the xline() function. 'linetype color' = '- g' = Dashed line greenīelow is a table of the different line types and color options for the LineSpec. The syntax of the “LineSpec” input for selecting the line style and color is as follows: In this example, we will see how to select these attributes. When we draw vertical lines with xline(), we have the option to specify the type and color of that line. How to Set the Color Style and Linetype Using the LinSpec Input of the MATLAB Function xline() Next, we will see an example where we send a coordinate vector to draw10 equidistant vertical lines on a graph. So, it is possible to draw multiple lines by sending to “x” a vector with the coordinates of the multiple lines you want to draw. The input “x” to the MATLAB function xline() accepts scalars and vectors. How to Create Multiple Vertical Lines with MATLAB xline() Function In the following figure we see the line drawn from the x-axis: With these functions, we have created the following empty graph: Thus, the line drawn by xline() will be continuous and black. In this example, we use only the “x” input argument, so the line style parameters take the default values. In this case, in the middle of the axis, we enter in “x ” the value 0.5. To do this, we call the function xline() sending in “x” the coordinate of the x-axis on which we want to draw the line. Now, we will draw a vertical line on this axis. ![]() For this, we will first create an empty axis and enable the grid with the following functions: In this example, we will show you the simplest way to create a vertical line with MATLAB’s xline() function. How to Create a Vertical Line with the xline() Function in MATLAB This input accepts strings and cell arrays of character vectors. Labels: enters the text labels we want to add to the vertical line. ![]() The data type that LineSpec accepts is a character vector or string scalar. LineSpec: specifies the style and color attributes of the line. This input accepts scalars and vectors to specify the coordinates. X: Specifies the coordinate of the “x” axis from which to draw the vertical line. Next, we will look at each input argument for this function and explain the function each of them performs. It also provides the ability to place text labels and specify the format and attributes of the line color, width, linetype, etc. The MATLAB function xline() creates and draws vertical lines at a specified point on the x-axis of a graph. Note: The instructions here are based in the Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance expansion. A good build order optimizes the resources available later in the match, involving resource and construction mechanics. Many skilled commanders often have multiple build orders stored in memory to speed up the process and are prepared to adapt them to their situation. The units that you build also connect to this, but may not be strictly defined to a build order. Supreme Commander may have a less intensive build order strategy in comparison, but it still applies to this game.Ī build order is simply the time, way or position where you place your buildings, and the order you do so. 3 Supreme Commander Example Build Orderīuild Orders are fundamental to all Real Time Strategy games. ![]() You want pretty or you want a workhorse?
